On April 21, 2025, the Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Awards Conference was held, HAAFS won a total of 24 awards for scientific and technological achievements at all levels, including a first prize and a second prize.

The peanut research team of the Institute of Cereals and Oil Crops led the "Cultivation and Application of High Oil and High Oleic Acid High Yield New Peanut Varieties ‘Jihua 18’ and ‘Jihua 19’", which won the first prize of provincial scientific and technological progress. This project aims to address the challenges of the scarcity of high oleic acid peanut varieties and outdated multi trait collaborative improvement technology. A series of new germplasm with high oil, high yield and high oleic acid have been firstly created, revealing the genetic mechanisms of oil content, oleic acid content, and yield. Liquid phase chips and five functional markers have been developed, creating an efficient breeding technology system for multi gene aggregation, precise quality evaluation, and field yield resistance collaborative selection. The breeding cycle has been shortened by over 3 years. The oil content exceeds the national high oil standard (55%) by 0.98 and 0.31 percentage points, respectively, and the oleic acid content exceeds the national high oleic acid standard (75%) by 6.6 and 5.5 percentage points respectively. The yield per mu is over 500 kilograms, and it has the characteristics of multi resistance, wide adaptability, and excellent processing. It has been selected as a leading variety at the national and provincial levels for six consecutive years.
The accumulated promotion area is 17.35 million mu, accounting for 47.4% of the peanuts planting in the province, with an added profit of 2.886 billion yuan in the entire industry chain. This achievement has increased farmers' income by more than 500 yuan per mu, cultivated and supported 12 peanut enterprises, increased the value of high oleic acid peanut oil processing by more than 30%, reduced the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in high oleic acid diets, promoted the transformation and upgrading of the peanut industry to high-quality, efficient, nutritious and healthy, improved competitiveness, and made outstanding contributions to ensuring national grain and oil security and rural economic development.
